With the help of the excellent FAQ-tastic, I have republished the general FAQ for this site. There is now a rating system for questions and answers; the ones rated the highest will float to the top of the list. Also, there is now a way to submit questions that are not on the FAQ; just scroll to the bottom of the page to submit your question.

I’m still making updates, but all information for this semester’s classes should be posted. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by our holiday upgrade. You should notice a speed improvement in the server as well.

Begin by looking over the Composition FAQ on LitWiki. Notice that is a list of frequently asked questions about first-year composition. All links that are blue (or purple) have been answered; all of those in red have yet to be. Read through a couple of entries in order to get a feel for what you need to do to answer one of the questions.

Choose a question to answer. I would pick one that would do you some good to research: i.e., one you have had a problem with this semester in your writing so far. You may choose to answer a question that has already been addressed, but remember: never change anything on the wiki unless you can improve it. And never just delete an entry. If you have doubts about what and how to change an entry, just ask me.

After choosing a question to answer, you must then do some research. Go to the library. You must cite a minimum of three textbooks in correct MLA citation style as part of this assignment. If you don’t know what this is, look it up in your Hacker or in another composition handbook. Any entries not cited correctly cannot receive passing grades.

Answer the question in your best neutral style. Consider how to wiki before beginning. Also, be sure you use an appropriate organizational structure, with headings, subheadings, examples, and links.
