Welcome to LitMUSE
The name LitMUSE represents the goals and focus of this site. “Lit” stands for both literature and literacy, and “MUSE” is both an acronym for Multi-User Simulated Environment and the Greek word for the fount and guarantor of memory. With a focus on promoting technological literacy within a (post)humanistic milieu, LitMUSE hopes to bring traditional humanistic education into the information age. LitMUSE exists with the hope that VR communities can enrich our relationships online and can positively influence RL.LitMUSE was born as a MOO, but has metamorphosed into a learning environment that runs the CMS Moodle. It now functions as teaching support for Dr. Gerald Lucas, Assistant Professor of English, Macon State College. Check back frequently for new content, or visit LM’s sister sites for additional, specialized content: BigJelly contains reviews, commentaries, and resources on science fiction, new media, and technoculture; and The Humanities Index features notes, essays, and other materials about the study of literature.
